UCI C1 Cross-Country race was on schedule on Saturday, marathon race was held a day later. This year Tanja decided to do both races and she also won both!

XCO race was especially intense, with two Ukrainians chasing hard. Iryna Popova couldn’t hold a pace after a while, but Yana Belomoyna didn’t let go and was dangerous all the way to the end. Tanja’s skills on the downhill sections played a decisive role this time and she more than deserved her first victory of the season.

Tanja Žakelj (Unior Tools Team): “I’m of course happy with the outcome of the weekend, mostly with the XCO race that was race in the true meaning of the word. I had control from the start and I knew that I’m doing good. I was at my best on descents, which was big enough reason to push hard on the climbs – this is how I made sure I was in the leading position at the start of downhill sections. Yana Belomoyna was the only one that could bridge the gap. Last lap was perfect and I won with a small gap, so I’m happy with my race.
Sunday’s marathon was a race for pure enjoyment… luckily the competition was not as strong as on Saturday. I still had to work hard for the victory.
I really like both courses and I enjoyed in my bike.”

Congratulations to the organizers for another great weekend on Croatian coast and we already look forward to come back again next year.
